The National Association for Catering and Events - Southern Wisconsin Chapter and Pizza Man on Downer Avenue invite you to join us on Tuesday, February 16th.
This evening’s educational program will consist of a Color and Floral Forecast for 2016. A panel of local floral experts will be discussing what’s hot and what’s not for this year’s wedding season, along with suggestions on how to personalize your event and coordinate with the event venue.
2597 N Downer Ave, Milwaukee, WI
Back in the early hippy-dippy days in 1970 when there were long-haired, headband-wearing diehards, I purchased a small carry-out pizza restaurant that became Pizza Man and began satisfying the munchies of Milwaukee’s East Siders. Even though the hippie movement wasn’t looked upon favorably by everyone during its heyday, Pizza Man was proud to fill the niche by offering pizza delivery service until 4am. We also gave a free quart of Pepsi with every order (unheard of at that time!) to wash down the pizza and quench the cottonmouths of our growing fan base. Soon, word spread of Pizza Man’s incredible pizza, free quart of Pepsi, and late night delivery (the only place of its kind at the time) and business exploded!
On January 18th 2010, Pizza Man burned to the ground in a tragic fire, along with the other establishments and apartments in the building. It took me three years to find the perfect new location and the right friendly Pizza Man fans to invest in our resurgence. We’ve gone to great lengths to recreate the familiar, friendly, and eclectic old-world atmosphere with warmth and intimacy that was loved by so many over the 40 amazing years in our original location. We feel our new home will bring back the old memories and inspire many new ones. It all began when I opened a small carry-out pizza restaurant way back in 1970, never even dreaming that it would become so loved by our community for so many years. I created Pizza Man, but it was the people who made it an institution. Many thanks to our loyal supporters for making Pizza Man a Milwaukee landmark and for the unwavering encouragement over the years after the fire. We wouldn't be here today without you… and we're looking forward to many more years with you here in our new home.

2015/2016 Charity Partner:
With a mission to build a strong community by strengthening individuals, families, and the neighborhood, Neighborhood House has been on the front lines in the fight against inner-city poverty in Milwaukee for 70 years.
Founded in 1945 as a safe and nurturing place for urban youth, families and seniors, Neighborhood House has grown into a modern, 60,000 square-foot facility that has served more than a third million children and adults. Today NH serves over 4,000 people annually and provides accredited preschools, programs for kids, teens, and families.
Neighborhood House serves families from its main facility on Milwaukee’s west side, and its 93-acre Nature Center in Dodge County. While our traditional service area is bounded by 35th Street on the west, 20th Street on the east, Cherry Street on the north, and Wisconsin Avenue on the south, many families come to our locations from other parts of the metro area. The central city neighborhoods we serve include all or parts of Concordia, Avenues West, Merrill Park, Cold Spring Park, and Midtown. Our west side locations include Neighborhood House itself at 2819 N. Richardson Place, our International Learning Center at 639 N. 25th Street, and our Community Learning Center in Story School at 3815 W. Kilbourn Avenue.
